Do you carry out procedures with the Unified Patent Court?
The European Patent Court [Unified Patent Court] announces the new authentication and electronic signature model for processing in its CMS.
All companies and professionals who need to carry out procedures with the Unified Patent Court using its CMS system must have a qualified electronic signature certificate on a QSCD device, capable of authenticating itself on the platform and performing a qualified electronic signature on the documents to be uploaded to the CMS.

Do I need two different certificates to complete the process?
How do I apply for the certificate?
● Identificación del firmante, de manera inequívoca.
● Garantizar la integridad del documento firmado. Asegura que el documento firmado es exactamente el mismo que el original y que no ha sufrido alteración o manipulación.
● Garantizar el no repudio del documento firmado. Los datos que utiliza el firmante para realizar la firma son únicos y exclusivos y, por tanto, posteriormente, no puede decir que no ha firmado el documento.
La base legal de la Firma electrónica está recogida en el Reglamento (UE) No 910/2014 y en la Ley 59/2003 de Firma Electrónica.
Can I apply for a certificate from anywhere?
Yes. ANF Certification Authority is a Qualified Trusted Service Provider, included in the “Trusted List of Certification Service Providers.” With an ANF AC certificate, you can authenticate yourself on the electronic platforms of any Public Administration.
How long can it take for the certificate to be delivered?
Electronic certificates issued by ANF AC are valid for two years, with the possibility of renewal for two more years before the expiration date. Only one renewal is possible.
What is the purpose of using physical media?
As many as you want or need.
UPC states that it is mandatory to have hardware
No, and it is very important that applicants know how to differentiate between the different types of certificates that exist. Do not be confused by commercial terms that have nothing to do with the legal and technical reality of these instruments.
Currently, only the following types of qualified certificates exist:
1. Qualified electronic signature certificate. This is a certificate issued to a natural person who can act on their own behalf or as the legal representative of a third party.
2. Qualified electronic seal certificate. This is a certificate issued to a legal entity. This type of certificate is issued for the creation of electronic seals that are issued in high-availability automated systems, allowing the authentication of documents issued in an unattended manner.
3. Qualified secure server certificate. This is a technical certificate requested by a legal entity that includes one or more DNS addresses. The website authentication certificate is used to identify and ensure secure communication between computer systems, enabling secure SSL or TLS communications to be established.
I want to have a hardware device. What should I do?
The PCSC issuing this certificate is required to provide certificate validation services. You can query OCSP responders online.
ANF AC is one of the few PCSCs qualified to issue qualified reports on the validation of certificates, signatures, and electronic seals.
Can a hardware device lose its QSCD status?
Of course! ANF Certification Authority certificates are interoperable and functional in any public administration in Spain and throughout the European Union.
How can I install the certificate on my computer?

The public administration is large, and sometimes everyone’s participation is necessary!
How many signatures does the UPC Pack Electronic Signature Platform include?
There are two UPC Packs available to suit your needs. If you are a European Patent Agent and purchase the pack, you will have 250 signatures at your disposal. If you are a company and have several agents working for you, you can purchase a customized pack that suits your company’s needs.
